This is on the way! A low end specific fuzz from the good folk(s?) at Dirty Haggard Audio. A unique pedal as it has an adjustable filter that keeps the high end from being fuzzed. That’ll help keep the clarity by focusing the fuzzy bits on the lower end. Also a mix knob of sorts. It never goes full clean, but maintains the character of the pedal so it doesn’t sound like two sounds from different worlds.

Ok, I got it and on the fence. I still may find a place for it, but it’ll take some hardware to prove a concept.
Knob explanations.
I like the fuzz tone.
The mix function is actually done quit well. It colors the original sound so it blends nicely with the fuzz signal. Most mix (blend) functions are strictly the original signal which always sounds out of place to me.
Tone be tone.
Cln Fltr is a low pass of sorts. Its sets the threshold of where the high frequencies are not fuzzed. This actually works very well for bass. Creates a discernible metal bass tone. I’m pleased with that.
Gain does fuzz, duh. I don’t mean Hendrix fuzz, but the kind of fuzz that makes you feel like hurting somebody fuzz. That’s a good thing, at least in spirit. But here’s the thing that bothers me. It sends the signal to the internal gate. If set to low, the gate starts to sputter. I really don’t want my bass sputtering. Part of it is I’m not using this for the right application. I’m a dynamic player and when playing low, the gate kicks in. This is built for skin-peeling-fuck-off-neighbors-weaponized noise.
So now the theoretical fix. Need to get two splitter/joiners to create a parallel path. On the main path will be my boost driving the tube boost for a touch of grit and growl. The second path will have the Degrade followed by an attenuater. It’s loud af. I mean LOUD! The idea is to keep a constant signal in while the Degrade takes on the job of nastiness when so desired. It’ll still sputter, but the entire signal won’t be cut out. It might actually sound pretty damn cool and unique.
It’ll be some time to acquire such hardware due to priorities of gear acquisition.
Ohh, one more thing. I took the back off and on the circuit board are little words printed such as, Don’t Buy, Satanic, 666… That alone might be a reason to keep this. Now if only Haggard could make a country specific model and etch such sneaky words in. They’d never know! Silly thoughts.
Anyhow, time to devil horn this shit up and rock!
